The 2017 Downtown Plymouth Waterfront Festival will be held on Saturday August 26th from 10-6pm . Plymouth’s waterfront for live entertainment, a kids fun-zone, car show, sing-off, a ducky dash, craft and artisan booths, food vendors, and more.

The following streets will be closed to traffic on August 26th from 4:30 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.

Please note: The Jenney Grist Mill Parking Lot will be closed on Saturday, August 26th for the Motor Head’s Cruise-In Car Show. Please NO PARKING!

 

 

Quincy August Moon Festival 2017

The 30th Annual August Moon Festival will be held on Sunday August 20th  12-5PM Downtown Quincy on Coddington St. This is a great FREE family friendly event to learn about the Chinese culture. This is a new location for the August moon Festival .

This event is one of the largest cultural festivals on the South Shore, last year’s festival attracted over 15,000 people!

The festival is free to attend with attractions such as a food court and food trucks, children’s amusements and pony rides, dunk tank, cultural performances all day on more!

Opening ceremonies starts at 11AM with a lion dance. Come early, you don’t want to miss this!

Solar Eclipse Viewing Parties South Shore Boston August 21 2017

On Monday  August  21,   the South Shore and Boston    will get a unique opportunity here in to see a partial solar eclipse, an off-angle view of the total solar eclipse that will be visible over many parts of the United States for the first time since 1979.  Solar Eclipse Viewing Parties South Shore Boston August 21 2017

If you are viewing at  home make sure you get some solar eclipse glasses  that are recommended by NASA.

Boston Children’s Museum in Boston: Go out onto the boardwalk to watch the solar eclipse. Bring your eclipse-viewing glasses. For ages 3 and up. Monday Aug. 21, 1:30-4 p.m.

Dana Mohler-Faria Science and Mathematics Center in Bridgewater: Go to the center to view the sun with eclipse glasses or with solar telescopes. BSU Observatory staff and students will be there to share their expertise. Monday Aug. 21st, 1 p.m. Free entry.

Middleboro Public Library  Solar Eclipse Viewing Party and Viewing   1:30-2:30- Solar Eclipse Program: Kids can come to the library to learn about the Sun, how a solar eclipse occurs, and create a sun cookie to eat! We will focus on safe viewing behavior before handing out special glasses and going out to see the eclipse during its peak. 2:30-3:00- Solar Eclipse Viewing: Not interested in the program but would like to join us for the Viewing party? Meet us in the Large Meeting Room at 2:30pm for special instructions on safe viewing and grab a pair of special glasses made for this occasion. We will all go outside to view the solar eclipse during its peak. Light refreshments will be provided.

Kingston Pubic Library  Here comes the Sun. Join us in viewing the Solar Eclipse Event! We’ll live stream NASA’s coverage and then head outside to view the eclipse together.

Quincy Public Library    Stop by the Main Library Lawn to join us for space science stories and activities during the solar eclipse. Bring along an empty cereal or cracker box and we will show you how to make a pinhole viewer to safely observe the eclipse. Maximum eclipse coverage in the Boston area will be at 2:46.

Randolph Public Library Please join us on Monday August 21st 130-4pm  to view the solar eclipse as a community at the library. FREE eclipse glasses will be provided by a grant from the Space Science Institute. Event will be streamed live indoors if weather dictates.

Blue Hill Meteorological Observatory in Milton: Head to the observatory and pick between two different tour options. The first tour allows visitors access to the rooftop, where they can see the Boston skyline and the eclipse. The second tour allows visitors to see the eclipse and learn about the eclipse. Entrance fee is $5 for adults and $3 for children. For the more advanced tour, the fee is $10 for adults and $7 for children. Call 617-696-0562.

Scituate Public Library 1-330pm  Join experts from South Shore Astronomical Society at the library to view the solar eclipse!Join us for a special viewing of the solar eclipse through solar telescopes provided by South Shore Astonomical Society.  The viewing of the solar eclipse takes place on the patio.  Activities for families available in the Community Room.

West Bridgewater Library  Monday, August 21st from 1:30 – 4 p.m.  Swing by the West Bridgewater Public Library is avail yourselves of the solar-filtered telescopes which will be set up by the South Shore Astronomical Society on the front lawn of the library.

 

Plymouth Blake Planetarium  Come celebrate the Great American Eclipse of 2017 at the W. Russell Blake Planetarium, located at the Plymouth Community Intermediate School, with its new 4K Definiti digital theater! Join us for a free open house and enjoy our presentations of “Eclipses and Phases of the Moon” and “Totality”. The shows runs 20-25 minutes and will be played on the half hour. We will also be viewing a live stream of the total solar eclipse from a location of its path of totality. Free pairs of solar glasses will be given out at the door for safe viewing of the eclipse to the first 500 visitors.

Brockton Summerfest 2017

Summerfest 2017 will be held Saturday, August 19th  rain or shine at Brockton High School from 10am-3pm To celebrate the children of Brockton and their families with a day of fun at little to no cost for the families. Our performances and activities are all free to the local families.

You will find music and dancing outside near Fine Arts, outside in front of the Gym, in the Green Cafeteria, the Red Cafeteria and several shows in the Little Theatre and in the Gym!
