Here are the Memorial Day events going South of Boston upcoming long  weekend May 23rd thru May 30TH 2016   Memorial day is much more than cookouts and hanging out with friends remember the people  have fought for our freedom.  If you know of any events that are going on which are not listed here please let us know so we can add them.  Also check out the discount and freebies that business offer for veterans and servicemen. we are still working on our final list   Check out the local restaurant offering discounts  give them some extra business even if you are not a veteran or active military-restaurants like them make nation prouder.

Abington Memorial Day Parade

Monday, May 30TH 10 am

The Memorial Day Parade has been cancelled due to inclement weather. A small ceremony will be held at the American Legion on Washington St.

Braintree Memorial Day Ceremony

The Town of Braintree will hold a Memorial Day tribute on May 29 at 11 am at the Garden of Honor, Blue Hill Cemetery, 700 West Street. All are invited to attend.

Brockton Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony

Monday 30  May, 2016

Today’s parade has-been cancelled. The Memorial day ceremonies will be held inside at the War Memorial Building on 135 West Elm St at 10 am. All are invited.

Start: War Memorial Building, 156 West Elm St. at 10 am.

Route: Left on Arlington Street, left on Belmont Street, left on Main Street, Continue on Main to Legion Park Way, Left onto Legion Parkway and ending with a Ceremony at the Veterans’ of all Wars Monument Located on Legion Parkway @Warren Ave.

Canton Memorial day Ceremony

Monday May 30T

Memorial Day ceremonies will begin with the parade on Washington Street from Canton High School at 9 a.m.

Cohasset Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony

Monday May 30TH

10:30 am – Kicks off at American Legion Hall with stops at North Cohasset Cemetery, North Cohasset Honor Roll, Woodside Cemetery, and Beechwood Cemetery.

Duxbury Memorial Day Parade

Monday, May 30th  10:00am

Duxbury Memorial Day Parade and Servies. A reception at the American Legion will follow.

Begins at Myles Standish Cemetery, Chestnut Street and ends at First Parish Church

Easton  Memorial Day  

Due to the expected bad weather tomorrow, the Memorial Day Parade has been canceled. The Veterans will conduct a special ceremony at the VFW at 2pm. They are asking people to arrive by 1:30.

Halifax Memorial Day Parade

Monday May30th  9:30 a.m Parade  from the Shelby Plaza along Route 106 to town hall, where ceremonies will be held, including laying of wreaths at 10 a.m.

Hanover Memorial Day Parade

Monday, May 30TH 10AM

Starts  at St. Mary’s Church and ends at Town Hall.

Hanson Memorial Day Parade

Monday, May 30 10AM

The  Hanson Memorial Day Parade will begin at the Indian Head School with a reading of the Memorial Day Proclamation. The parade will proceed to the Town Hall for a reading of the Gettysburg Address.  The participants will regroup and march to the Fern Hill Cemetery for Memorial Day Ceremony and guest speakers.   Due to the weather the Memorial Day Parade is cancelled. There will be a ceremony however at the Indian Head School at 10 am.

Hull Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony

Due to inclement weather the Memorial Day Parade is cancelled. Memorial Ceremony will take place in Hull High School Auditorium @ 1000AM.

Begins at  Hull high school and continues to march to the Gold Star Mothers Monument in Hull Village Cemetery.  Ceremony at 10 am

Hingham Memorial Day Ceremony

Monday May 30  11 a.m.

Veterans Memorial Park in Hingham Center. USAF Brig. Gen. Christopher Weggeman will be the principal speaker. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be conducted in Hingham Town Hall’s Sanborn Auditorium.

Kingston Memorial Day Parade

Monday, May 30 10AM

Kingston Memorial Day Parade and Ceremonies. Tributes will be made at each War Memorial in town, and a small ceremony will be held at Town Hall at the end of the parade.

Begins behind Marshalls in Webster Square, proceeds down Snow Road to Veterans Memorial Park.

Milton Memorial Day Ceremony

Monday May 30Th 9:30 am

Attention Residents. IMPORTANT Change to MEMORIAL DAY Parade/Observance for Monday.
Due to a forecast of heavy rain, the Memorial Day Parade will begin at the Town Green on Canton Ave. with marchers proceeding
to the Council on Aging. All of the public program that had been scheduled to take place at Milton Cemetery, will now take place inside the Council on Aging. Thank you….

A wreath-laying ceremony at town hall. It will be followed by a march to Milton Cemetery for ceremonies.

 

Norwell Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony

Monday May   30th 10:30am

The corner of Main and Lincoln streets. Marchers will proceed east on Main Street to the Norwell Veterans Memorial Common, then turn south on River Street and regroup on the common for an 11 a.m. ceremony. A reception at the American Legion will follow.

Pembroke Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony

CANCELLED 

Monday, May 30TH

Starting at 12:45pm until 2:30 pm, the Center will be closed from Lucky Dawg on Mattakeesett St. to Oldham St. at First Church. Please use Mountain Ave., Wampatuck and Oldham as detours.

Plymouth Memorial day parade and ceremony

From Shirley Square parade proceeds north on Route 3A stopping at 1820 Courthouse Green, then to Samoset Street entering Vinehills-Oak Grove Cemetery, to Summer Street to the World War I Memorial Bridge over Town Brook and continues on to the Training Green.
To honor all soliders, this Memorial Day weekend there will be 150 flags placed around the monument in the center of Plymouth’s own Training Green. They will be placed there honoring all the men and women from Plymouth who have fought for our country. The Memorial Day parade will end at the Green with a small ceremony and a wreath laying.

Quincy  Memorial Day Parade,

Monday, May 30TH 10:30 a.m.

Memorial Day parade cancelled due to anticipated storm. Please join us 5/30 @ 11:00am at Quincy High for ceremony

The parade will step off from Quincy Credit Union at 10:30 a.m. on Memorial Day and march along Hancock Street to Coddington Street and finally to Mount Wollaston Cemetery, where the ceremony will be held at the World War II podium.

Rockland Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony

Monday, May 10 AM

Due to the inclement weather, Rocklands’ Memorial Day Observance Parade is cancelled and in it’s place there will be a ceremony in the Rockland High School Auditorium starting at 10 am. All groups that were going to march are welcome to participate. Arrive by 9:30 so we can over the revised program. Please help us honor those who have gone before us! Thank you.

Parade begins on Summit Street and continues to Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. From there it will continue to Union Street and end at the library lawn for a short ceremony.

Scituate Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony

Monday, May 25 10:30

From Town Hall down First Parish Road to the Lawson Park. Once at the Lawson Park, the Memorial Day Ceremony will take place at @ 11:15 a.m.

Sharon Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony

Decorating veterans graves: 6 p.m. Friday  May 22nd  at Rock Ridge Cemetery. Volunteers are needed. In the event of heavy rain Friday evening, assembly will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday May 25th

Service: 1:15 p.m. Sunday at Rock Ridge Cemetery. Assemble at the intersection of East and Mountain Streets.

Ceremony: 2:20 p.m. Sunday in front of town hall.

Weymouth Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony

Due to the Weather forecast for tomorrow the Weymouth Memorial DayParade has been cancelled. Instead we will be having a Memorial Day Program in the Abigail Adams Auditorium @ 11 am

Whitman Memorial Day Parade

The Memorial Parade has been cancelled due to the weather. We salute all those who have and are serving in our military. We especially remember those who paid in ultimate sacrifice and laid down their lives upon the altar of freedom for all of us.

Parade: 9 a.m. Monday from corner of Court Street and Whitman Avenue, proceeds through the center of town and ending at town park. Ceremonies will be held following the parade at the Veteran’s Post 697, 95 Essex St.

Each year businesses honor Veterans and Service members by offering Memorial Day  discounts on goods, services, and dining.

Battleship Cove Fall River

May 28-30th Memorial day weekned 

FREE ADMISSION FOR VETERANS. All active duty, retired and reserve military personal will receive free admission to the museum all weekend long.

May 30th MEMORIAL DAY CEREMONY

Honor and commemorate the men and women dedicate their lives in the pursuit of freedom. Experience a traditional military observance at 12:00pm with the raising of the American flag from half-staff and a 21-gun salute. The ceremony is open to the public at no charge.
