Day 943 Rockland Holiday Stroll 2014

The  2014   Rockland  Holiday Stroll is scheduled to take place Saturday evening , November  29th  from 4 to 7 p.m. The stroll  will take place from the  Teen Center to the Magoun-Biggins Home in Rockland center  This is a great Christmas holiday event for the entire family.   Town Hall, banks and other businesses will be open along Union Street, many of them giving away holiday treats. 10686890_891289524222079_5862097022688760226_n

All the pieces are in place for the stroll launch site at Rockland Fire Station. RFD will have the apparatus in high polish and the fire house open to the public; Bella’s Restaurant will be  serving  a great Italian specialty. The Rockland  News Chowder booth will be in full swing with an all-star staff, including pro women’s basketball star Kerry Flynn; Krista White;

World Champion Pitmaster Bill Minahan and his “Q and a half men” BBQ team; Town Administrator Allan “Ooga” Chiocca; “Delightful” Debbie O’Brien;Town Collector, the spirited Judy Hartigan and other special guests. “Stunning” Steve Murphy will be back with his Atlantic Coffee station that has become a Stroll favorite. Larry “the Lion” Ryan will keep the revelers warm, manning the Rocklandnews.com fire pit and burning up nearly a half a cord of firewood donated by South Shore Loam on VFW Drive. The propane to heat the 60 gallons of chowder is donated by Hoadley Plumbing.

Stop by the Rockland G.A.R. Hall, 34 School St, Rockland, during the Rockland Holiday Stroll.See re-enactors attired in 1860’s period correct clothing, listen to the band, “Shades of Gray”, who’ll play Civil War era music on the 2nd floor stage, visit with an 1860’s Thomas Nast Santa and take your picture with him, and tour the hall decorated for the season. Among other displays the Historical Society will be there, too, with hot cider and coffee to warm you up!

 

The live entertainment will be provided by the world famous Jo Henley Band. We are thrilled to have Jo Henley back in Rockland. They have released two new hit CD’s since they last played at the Banner back in December. Jo Henley has agree to hang out in Rockland and play at the official “After Stroll Party” at Some Place Sports Bar. Some Place has big plans for this year’s stroll with the live music and Holiday specialties.
