Day 941 2014 Annual Quincy Christmas Holiday Parade and Celebrations

The City of Quincy will host its annual slate of Christmas events beginning on Friday, November 28th  with the Turning on of the Christmas Lights. Santa and his elves will arrive by parachute on November 29th  and the 62nd   Annual Christmas Parade will be held on Sunday,  November 30th at 12:30. All events are free and open to the public.

Friday, November 28th , 2014, 5pm-7pm
McIntyre Mall (tents in front of City Hall), 1305 Hancock Street, Quincy

The activities will kick off at 5:00 pm and includes the Donna Marie Children’s Puppet show, Costumed Characters, and the combined Quincy/ North Quincy Choir. The performances will be held inside of a heated tent that will be set up on the lawn. At 6:00 PM, Mayor Thomas P. Koch will turn on the Christmas lights at the library and throughout Quincy Center to mark the beginning of our holiday season. Please join family and friends and enjoy free popcorn and hot chocolate on this very special night.

The parade has over 100 units which include high school and adult marching bands from around the state, Christmas themed floats, and many more exciting entries. In keeping with the parade theme, the Grand Marshall’s have been selected remembering the old fashioned values of “The Greatest Generation”. This years Grand Marshall’s are Quincy residents, Robert G. Noble an Army Air Force veteran, and former Prisoner of War, John M. Gillis a United States Marine veteran, and Francis X Bellotti a veteran of the United States Navy. The parade will start in Quincy Center at Hannon Parkway and continue north bound through the city on Hancock Street ending at North Quincy High School.
