Free Summer concerts in Abington MA 2012

The Abington summer concert series will be back for Summer 2012~ These great family friendly concerts  will be held at 6 p.m. on Sundays at the Catherine and Joseph Nisby Bandstand. Bring your blanket and enjoy the summer evening.  

July 1 — The Island Castaways (Abington Firefighters Night)

 

Originally formed in 2008 as Jimmy Buffett tribute, The Island Castaways Band have evolved into one of New England’s most popular Trop Rock bands. Their live show features a balanced mix of originals and classics, all with their own Tropical touch of fun – bringing Summer to you, regardless of where you are or the time of year. “

July 15 — Johnny the K (Kids Night)

 

Nationally acclaimed and award winning musician and teacher, John Kelleher, along with his 12 string guitar and his unique collection of costumed hats, masks, and disguises, educates and inspires his audiences through his spirited and interactive style of music. His exciting and unique method of teaching and empowering children has been greeted with overwhelming approval and support    for the past 23 years!

 

 

 

July 22 — Soul Kitchen

 

Drawing musical inspiration from the legendary Rhythm and Blues artists of the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s, Soul Kitchen lays down a groove that sets your feet in motion. With a commitment to the R&B sound, the band employs a four horn section, full rhythm section and male and female vocalists. This instrumentation provides authenticity of sound and enables the band to perform works popularized by male and female artists of the genre from Aretha Franklin and Etta James to Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles. Whether you grew up with the music or are new to it, you’re certain to find it infectious.

 

July 29 — East Coast Acapella

 

 

We deliver your  favorite songs and memories, and create new ones to treasure with stunning vocal arrangements and unique stage personalities featuring each of our five talented performers. While  our base repertoire consists of the many classic songs of the 50’s and 60’s – we have taken our  style “beyond” to include  many classics and unique arrangements of your favorites from the 70’s, 80’s 90’s, and beyond . . .

 

Aug. 5 — 4 Guys In Tuxes (Seniors’ Night)

 

Great orchestra band in tuxes they will get you up dancing!

 

Sunday, August 12th from 2:00-5:00 for a  Tricentennial Event. An Olde Abington Tri-Town Firefighters Muster will be held behind Abington High School. The Abington, Rockland and Whitman Fire Departments have each put together a team to compete in 5 skill events to determine the best! Come cheer on your town. Food and Drink will be available from Abington Youth Soccer and the Abington Lions Club

Aug. 12 — The John Penny Band

The John Penny Band is a six piece country band with lead guitar, bass, keyboards, and drums, rhythm guitar & fiddle. All six members sing lead and backup vocals. Their repertoire consists of contemporary and traditional country music, 50’s & 60’s oldies & pop standards.
