Top 10 Teacher gift suggestions for Christmas

  1. Something for their desk: Every teacher writes notes, probably many notes every day, so a note block or notepad makes a very nice, practical gift. For something a little different, you could get a paperweight or mouse pad.
  2. Lunch bag: Many teachers bring their lunch, or at least a snack, to school regularly so a cute insulated lunch bag is a great gift idea.
  3. Tote bag: Teachers are often bringing home huge stacks of papers to grade so a large sturdy tote bag would be great to lug everything around.
  4. Jewelry: If the teacher is a woman, she would love to get a nice piece of jewelry! It doesn’t have to cost a fortune either. We have beautiful pieces starting at just $10!
  5. Coffee Mug: Whether it’s for coffee, tea or hot chocolate, most people use a mug regularly. Why not give your teacher a cute mug or travel mug with a gift card to your local coffee shop?
  6. Ornament: We have lots of fun and unique ornaments for teachers! From hand painted glass ornaments with fun polka dots to personalized clay ornaments, you are sure to find just the right one.
  7. A Personalized Stamp: This is a great gift for any teacher from pre-school and up! You can either get one to use a return address stamp or one that can be used to mark good work on assignments.
  8. A Sweet Treat: This is great if you don’t know the teacher well enough to get something personal. Who doesn’t love something yummy?! We recommend some of our sugar cookies from Pembroke Cookie Company.
  9. Initials!: We LOVE initials at Mono Mono. For teachers, you can get away with using the first or last initial. If you want to use the first initial but don’t know the teacher’s first name we will be happy to look it up in the school’s staff directory.
  10. Gift Certificate: It’s not uncommon that customers just cannot decide which of our fun and unique gifts they want to give. We sell gift certificates in any denomination. Problem solved.

5 Teacher Gifts to Avoid

  1. Breakable: Keep in mind that this gift will have to survive a bus ride in your child’s backpack before it actually makes it into the teacher’s hands. Anything glass that isn’t packaged properly is probably not a good idea.
  2. Alcohol related: Unless you know your child’s teacher REALLY well, this is not a good idea. You never know who may be offended by a gift relating to alcohol. It’s just not appropriate.
  3. Nuts: Because of food allergies, many classrooms have a “No Nuts” policy. Try to avoid any edible gifts containing nuts.
  4. Sized: Getting anything that is sized is just too complicated. You most likely do not know the teacher’s clothing or shoe size and it would probably end up returned or exchanged.
  5. Extravagant: Unless all of the parents are chipping in for one big gift, try not to get anything too extravagant or pricey. Most schools have policies about how much teachers are allowed to accept and it might make the other parents feel uncomfortable with their gifts. We have a lot of gifts under $20!
